It appears on certificates of analysis across the industry, and a common question follows: is Janoshik actually legitimate, or is it just another logo on a PDF? This guide explains what Janoshik is, what independent lab testing does, and how to read the results with a critical eye.
What Janoshik is
Janoshik Analytical is an independent, third-party laboratory that performs analytical testing on peptides and similar compounds. “Third-party” is the key phrase: the lab has no stake in selling the product it tests. A supplier sends a sample, the lab runs it, and the lab issues a report on what it found. That separation is exactly what makes independent testing meaningful.
What the testing measures
Peptide analysis generally answers two questions. First, identity: is the molecule actually the peptide it claims to be? This is typically confirmed by mass spectrometry, which measures molecular mass and matches it against the expected value. Second, purity: what percentage of the sample is the target peptide versus impurities or by-products? This is usually measured by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), which separates the components and quantifies each.

- HPLC reports how pure that compound is, as a percentage.
- Peptide content / net weight tests can also confirm how much active material is actually in the vial.
So, is it legit?
Janoshik is widely used by quality-focused suppliers precisely because it functions as a neutral referee. The lab itself is a real analytical facility, and its reports carry weight because they are independent. That said, “legit lab” and “legit result” are not automatically the same thing. A report is only as trustworthy as the chain behind it.
How to read a report critically
An independent test is a strong signal, but treat every COA with healthy scepticism:
- Match the batch. A COA should reference the specific lot you are buying, not a generic sample from months ago.
- Check the compound name and mass. The reported molecular mass should match the peptide advertised.
- Confirm it is verifiable. Reputable labs let you validate a report against their own records, so a screenshot cannot be quietly edited.
- Look at what was tested. Identity plus purity together tell a fuller story than either alone.

What a lab test cannot tell you
It is also worth being honest about the limits. A certificate reflects the specific sample that was submitted, at the moment it was tested. It cannot guarantee that every vial in a batch is identical, that storage since testing was correct, or that the sample sent to the lab was drawn from the same stock you are buying. This is why independent testing is a strong signal but never the whole story: it works best alongside consistent handling, cold-chain storage and lot-specific reporting. A single report in isolation, with no batch reference and no way to verify it, is worth far less than a verifiable, batch-matched one, no matter how impressive the purity figure looks.
